Arizona Municipality Taps Stertil-Koni Washbay SKYLIFT System to Keep First Responder Vehicle Fleet Serviced and Ready

Stertil-Koni Distributor, Southwest Lift & Equipment, Takes Project Lead, Adheres to CDC Covid-19 Guidelines for Added Safety

At a time in which first responder vehicle fleets are particularly critical to serving the public, heavy duty vehicle lift leader, Stertil-Koni – and its exclusive network of factory trained distributors – are rising to the occasion.

Case in point is a municipality in Arizona, which is working closely on a major installation with Adison Cayo, Sales/Service Manager at Southwest Lift & Equipment -- the sole distributor of Stertil-Koni lifts in the Southern California and Arizona territories.

Southwest Lift & Equipment has recently provided the municipality with an innovative Wash Bay version of the Steril-Koni SKYLIFT to help keep first responder vehicles well-maintained and ready.

The new SKYLIFT will be used to service a broad range of vehicles including fire trucks, ambulances, trash trucks, septic trucks, pickup trucks, and cars.

The product’s unique features indeed make it special. As Cayo explains, “SKYLIFT is a superior heavy duty platform lift that delivers a ‘clear floor’ approach with a true vertical rise – saving valuable space in the maintenance facility.  Its elegant design includes two independent runways, vertical lifting, no crossbeams, no overhang and no base frame.” That affords shop technicians free access to the vehicles from all sides.

The SKYLIFT boasts a generous vehicle lifting height of 69 inches, and the Wash Bay SKYLIFT is water resistant, including a sealed stainless steel control panel – making it ideal for efficiently and safely cleaning vehicle chassis and undercarriages.

“What was really great about this project,” added Cayo, “is that the supervisor for the city came from another municipality that had used Stertil-Koni lifts. Based on that experience, his opinion is that they are the best in the world for all types of heavy duty lifting. The city already had 12 Mobile Column Lifts, and he encouraged them to order more. Since then, they’ve added six Stertil-Koni EarthLifts, plus 16 more of our Mobile Column Lifts.”

The biggest challenge to execute this particular installation was that the existing concrete pad beneath the outdoor canopy was sloped significantly -- to facilitate good drainage. But Cayo and his team quickly and creatively resolved that issue by strategically adjusting the ramp so that vehicles can safely access the lift from either direction.

Noted Stertil-Koni President, Dr. Jean DellAmore, “At Stertil-Koni, safety is always priority number one. That commitment is painstakingly and reliably engineered into each of our company’s unique heavy duty lift products.”

“What’s more,” he continued, “that level of dedication also extends to our North American network of dedicated, exclusive Stertil-Koni distributors and their highly trained technicians.”

Cayo exemplifies this commitment.  He is an Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) Certified Lift Inspector and he, and his team at Southwest Lift & Equipment, responsibly upgraded their workplace procedures to ensure compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines.

“During installation, it can get a little uncomfortable wearing a face mask and gloves under the Arizona sun,” Cayo acknowledged. “But we do what’s needed to protect everyone’s health. The good thing was that we had the ability to work outdoors in the fresh air, with lots of space between techs working on different sides of the platform.”

Stertil-Koni president, Dr. Jean DellAmore, concluded, “We are extremely proud to partner with the hardworking experts at Southwest Lift & Equipment, and are grateful for the opportunity to provide world-class equipment and outstanding customer service to their regional municipality.”
