Westvac Industrial Hits a Hole in One

The staff of Westvac Industrial lit up the links recently, making the company’s third annual staff appreciation golf tournament and BBQ a rousing success. About 30 people hit the course for a day of fun and team building, followed by a tasty meal.

The Westvac Industrial team of Andrew Havrelock, Tasha Laurie, Ed Jackman, and Charlotte Vermeulen won the top prize, although no one went home empty handed. Thanks to generous sponsors, including Stertil-Koni, there were great prizes for several holes and a raffle.

“The weather was amazing,” said Charlotte Vermeulen, who does marketing and communications work for Westvac Industrial.

“A lot of people who came are non-golfers, but that didn’t matter, because it was all in good fun,” she added. “The event is really great for morale and team building.”

Although the tournament wasn’t about the competition, it still provided plenty of thrills, as well as some good laughs. Coming down to the wire, three teams tied for first place after the final hole. That required a hit off, naturally.

Only this time, the players couldn’t take aim at golf balls. Instead, the tees were loaded with marshmallows.

“Whoever could hit it the farthest won,” said Vermeulen. “It went about 30 yards.”
