Stertil ALM Launches Major Factory Expansion

Sales of Stertil-Koni lifts are booming, spurred by the new in-ground DIAMOND lift and the ECO series of scissor lifts. To keep up with the soaring demand, Stertil-Koni’s sister company Stertil ALM is expanding its production facility in historic Streator, Illinois.

Hinting at the key to his company’s success, Allan Pavlick, vice president of production for Stertil ALM, said, “We make an outstanding product that sells well in the marketplace. We can’t keep up with the demand.”

To be exact, sales of lift products out of the Streator plant have quadrupled over the past six years. In order to meet the needs of that growing customer base, Pavlick and team are expanding their production facility from roughly 25,000 square feet to include an additional 32,000 square feet of new space for a total of 57,000 square feet.”

To make way for all that growth, Stertil ALM purchased land adjacent to their current facility. The team is on schedule to break ground on the new building in April. Some fabrication is expected to begin in the new space by August and everything should be up and running by October.

The new facility will service Stertil-Koni’s entire product line, with a special emphasis on the red-hot DIAMOND and ECO series.

The expansion “will lead to shorter production times as well as more efficient manufacturing methods,” said Dr. Jean DellAmore, president of Stertil-Koni USA.

The Streator site currently employs nearly 80 people but the team expects to staff up for the new space. Pavlick is still working out the details of the new jobs but DellAmore said that “Stertil Koni is proud to be a net adder of jobs to the local Streator economy.”

“The city of Streator and local contractors have been very supportive of the expansion project,” Pavlick added.
