Family and Business Truly Matter at Stertil-Koni

06/19/2018

Southwest Lift and EquipmentStertil-Koni believes that the tenants of a successful family, including time together, communication, problem-solving, appreciation, and commitment, do indeed translate into a thriving business.

And, we should know! More than half of Stertil-Koni’s dedicated distributorships are family owned.

Stertil-Koni cares about the contributions of these multiple generations who are committed to their companies. That’s why we share their stories in a blog series called “Family Matters,” touching on what makes each family and business unique.

Stertil-Koni’s North American distributorships are made up of a variety of familial units. Consider these, for example, an operation with a father and his three grown children, nephews, father and uncle business, a couple of husband and wife teams, a husband and wife and son company, several father-son operations, a father, mother, daughter and son-in-law enterprise and even brothers in partnerships.Malchi Automotive Equipment

And, keeping the business in the family matters.

“Family-owned businesses are the backbone of American society,” states The Conway Center for Family Business, an Ohio non-profit that provides educational programs and resources for family-owned businesses. Here are some familial facts:

1.       Family businesses account for 64 percent of U.S. gross domestic product, generate 62 percent of the country’s employment, and account for 78 percent of all new job creation.

2.       The greatest part of America’s wealth lies with family-owned businesses. Family firms comprise 80 to 90 percent of all business enterprises in North America.

3.       The tenure of leadership in a Family Enterprise is four to five times longer than their counterparts.

4.       The environment for innovation in family businesses improves when more generations of the owning family are actively involved in the business.
What truly drives many family businesses is the sense of connection and identity the owners and their family members feel with the business.

Noted Dr. Jean DellAmore, president of Stertil-Koni, “It’s wonderful to have such commitment and continuity at our Stertil-Koni distributorships. Family owned ventures are economic powerhouses that propel local, national and global economies. Successful family businesses share a connection in goals and a stake in personal identity. Families do matter here at Stertil-Koni. The bonus is the opportunity to watch the second or third generation grow up and step into the footsteps of their parents.”
